Alaprimas: Living Locally, The Art of Life in the Roaring Fork Valley

  • Red Brick Arts 110 E Hallam St Aspen United States (map)

West Gallery
Gallery Hours:
Tuesday – Thursday, 10am – 4pm & by appointment

The West Gallery at Red Brick Arts is pleased to present an exhibition of watercolors by the Alaprima Painters — intentionally spelled differently from the painting style called alla prima. For five years, a group of artists has met weekly in Carbondale to paint, critique and share ideas, perspectives, laughter, and support. Each artist has different techniques, varying subjects and widely different life experiences that they bring to the group. From this weekly gathering, they take new thoughts, technical ideas and concepts. These watercolors are some of the results of this cross-fertilization and sharing of different ideas and perspectives. They give some of our perspectives upon the Art of Living in the Roaring Fork Valley, from long-term residents to newer arrivals.

Exhibited artworks by: Joan Engler, Sandy Francis, Libby De Stefano, Stephanie McConaughy, Nicolette Toussaint and Judy Nordhagen
