The concept of Modernity looks to the past, but our exhibition goal is to take that time period and thinking and give it a shake to arrive at a present-day interpretation. Mid-Century Modern design is often geometric, intriguingly simple, with smooth flowing contours that recognize a quirky, playful quality. All of these qualities appeal. Because lives are now often complex, clean, and simple are appreciated today and almost everyone loves quirky, different, or fun.

These desired qualities can be used to describe Jean Smith's ceramic sculptures for the wall and Lydia Riegle's monotype prints and paintings. Visual creative language is often more than line, size, form, texture or space. We believe that art helps to bring memories to the surface starting a dialogue which then acts as catalyst to stretching thinking and boundaries adding to the richness of the human experience.

With that said, we look forward to sharing our present-day interpretation of this fun, iconic, and timeless way of thinking.
